Dr. Brandy Vowell
Dr. Vowell is a native Tulsan and a graduate of Memorial High School. She completed her undergraduate degree in 1998 at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders with an emphasis on Deaf Education and a minor in Reading Education. Dr. Vowell then attended the University of North Texas and earned a Master of Science in Audiology in 2000. She earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry & School of Audiology in 2003. Dr. Vowell completed her clinical fellowship in medical facilities in Plano, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dr. Vowell has worked in a wide variety of clinical, manufacturing, and academic settings. Currently, she is busy assisting patients at her clinic in Tulsa on a full time basis. In the past, she has served as an adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Oklahoma Doctor of Audiology Program working with patients and Doctor of Audiology students. Her vast hearing healthcare experience includes managing the former Audiology department at Claremore Regional Hospital and for local physicians. Dr. Vowell has worked as a Professional Trainer for Phonak Hearing Systems, one of the top hearing aid manufacturers, teaching and training about advanced hearing aid technology to other professionals. During her time with Phonak she covered the Heartland and Southeast regions including Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Dr. Vowell is experienced in providing all aspects of hearing and balance care for children and adults. Comprehensive adult audiological evaluations, pediatric audiologic evaluations, hearing aid evaluation and fitting, vertigo/balance evaluation & treatment, auditory processing disorder evaluation & treatment, electrophysiologic evaluation of the auditory system, ototoxic/cancer drug monitoring, and cerumen management.
Dr. Vowell enjoys working with her patients, shopping, traveling, OU Football games, professional speaking, ballet, traveling, and spending time with family & friends! Her favorite things include Starbucks vanilla lattes, stargazer lilies, chocolate mousse, red wine, and pizza! Dr. Vowell’s greatest joys are playing with her young sons! Phoenix is 3 years old and baby Edison is 10 months old.

The Hearing Doctor parents are Ed & Melody Vowell. “Mum and Dad” can frequently be found around the office helping in various ways. Ed helps with advertising/marketing & Melody helps with answering phones and greeting patients.
General Manager: Ed Vowell, “Dad”
Ed Vowell is our General Manager and Dr. Vowell’s father. Ed assists with our accounting and our sales and marketing ventures but also helps out around the office. Ed is a native Tulsan, graduate of Webster High School, and completed most of his higher education coursework at the University of Tulsa in Accounting, Finance, & Marketing. He is a retiree of the United States Postal Service and served in the United States Navy. Ed’s favorite pastime is bowling and he has been inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame Bowlers. He currently bowls on the Senior Tour Circuit and has won the Tulsa area City Bowling Champion for multiple years. If you have Bowling questions, Ed is the person to ask!

Melody Vowell is our esteemed Office Mother! Many patients remember “the old days” when she helped answer the phone and many patient questions. She “retired” from The Hearing Doctor office work on March 2, 2010 when her first grandson Phoenix was born. She now loves spending time watching over both of her grandsons. Melody is thrilled with her grandmother role of playing with Phoenix and baby Edison! Melody is a St. Francis Hospital retiree and is a native Tulsan and graduated from Rogers High School. Melody still helps the office by testing out the myriad of new hearing aid products and Bluetooth accessories for her moderate hearing loss. We continue to update her tech savvy knowledge with all the new iPhone and iPad apps that work to control various hearing aid functions!

You will also frequently see Dr. Vowell’s husband, Brett Freeman, around the office assisting with all sorts of things! From helping Dr. Vowell climb tall ladders to changing ceiling tiles, to fixing computers, or simply watching a football game on the big screen television in the Hearing Aid Fitting room! Brett helps with all the autographed sports and entertainment memorabilia you see. His favorite teams are the Oklahoma Sooners and the Chicago Bears! He is a graduate of Jenks High School and the University of Oklahoma. He serves our local dermatology physicians by providing them with the most current information on dermatology products as a Territory Manager for a specialty pharmaceutical company.


Phoenix graduated to Big Brother Status June 5, 2012 and has been a great big brother! Phoenix is now 3 years old and loves all big construction equipment, big trucks, playing outside, and loves going to school each day!
